Petition to the Local and Federal Grand Juries to Investigate the Alleged Felony Murder of David Hooks.


    Petition Summary and Background:  David Hooks was killed in his own home during a fruitless "drug raid" by the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.  After a 44 hour search conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who were called in to investigate the Use of Deadly Force, no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found anywhere on the property.  Under the leadership of Sheriff Bill Harrell, dubious and incomplete evidence was provided to Magistrate Faith Snell to obtain the search warrant.  Said search warrant was then served in violation of OCGA 17-5-26 and OCGA 17-5-27, resulting in the death of David Hooks.
    Action Petitioned For:  It is the belief of the members of this Committee that there did occur, on or about September 25th, 2014 in Laurens County Georgia, an act of felony murder as contemplated under Georgia Statute 16-5-1.  Further, said murder was committed by several officers of the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, including the Sheriff himself, and others whose identities and complicity shall be made known to this Court of Inquiry.  We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders, in the form of the Grand Jury Assembled, to act now and hear our plea.
